World of Tanks Blitz has been storming the mobile gaming world with its tanks for 10 years, and it has generated over $1 billion in revenue so far. Wargaming’s popular game has reached 180 million players worldwide, and it is celebrating this success with major events. Here are the details:
World of Tanks Blitz to celebrate its 10th anniversary with events
Thaine Lyman, General Manager of MS-1 Studios at Wargaming, announced that many fun events are planned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of World of Tanks Blitz. When the game was first released, it had only eight maps and three tank nations. Now, it offers 30 maps, 11 game modes, and over 500 historical tanks. Additionally, Blitz is now playable on platforms such as Windows 10, Steam, macOS, and Nintendo Switch, providing full cross-play and cross-progression support.
The celebrations kicked off in June with a special birthday event where players had the chance to earn new Tier VIII and favorite Tier X tanks. In July, a space-themed party and cosmic activities await players. The “Objective: Sheridan Missile” event is returning, allowing players to use the famous Sheridan Missile tank. In August, the much-loved Mad Games event will return for 10 days, offering players a surprise gift.
Thaine Lyman described how Blitz has evolved over the years, emphasizing that the game is now more fun and focused on the joy of driving tanks. “Blitz is like the younger, more fun sibling of the World of Tanks game. If you enjoy fighting with tanks but historical battles are not very appealing to you, Blitz is perfect for you. Moreover, Blitz offers a more fantastic and customizable experience with Dracula tanks and post-apocalyptic themed tanks,” he said.
In-game events are filled with themes inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Trek, and even the Mad Max world. Players enjoy these events while customizing their tanks as they wish. Additionally, the graphics quality and performance of Blitz have greatly improved over the years.
